Emily Keith, LPC
Mental Health Therapist
Emily's areas of specialty include depression, anxiety/panic attacks, grief and loss, trauma, life stressors, and stage of life transitions.
I believe that our earliest relationships and experiences have the power to impact the ways we think, act, and feel later in life. Often, in our efforts to cope with sources of past pain, we can develop patterns of feeling, thinking, and relating that can inadvertently add to our suffering. I use a person-centered, existential, and trauma-informed approach to help clients explore these issues, and place strong emphasis on the working relationship, or “fit”, between client and counselor. I bring humor, empathy, and curiosity to the work that I do so that my clients may feel safe to explore their toughest challenges as well as celebrate their successes.
My therapeutic style is based around Emotion Focused Therapy, attachment theory, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. I typically do not assign homework as a therapist, instead preferring to focus on our time together during sessions. I warmly invite individuals from all racial, ethnic, spiritual, and religious backgrounds in my practice, as well as those with diverse gender and sexual identities.
I graduated with my Master of Arts in Counseling from Multnomah University in May of 2020, where I received distinction in academic and clinical excellence. I have experience working with individuals on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety/panic attacks, challenging/distressing relationship dynamics, stress management, family dysfunction, stage of life transitions including transitions to college and higher education, and grief/loss.
