Theoretical Orientation:
I generally use an individualized, mindfulness-based approach to counseling. This includes mindfulness-based psychotherapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) as well as aspects of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). I also incorporate research on trauma and its impact on well-being, such as Polyvagal Theory and research on attachment across the human lifespan. I view the therapeutic relationship as a paramount component in improving outcomes in therapy. When working with parents and parenting issues, I typically include Collaborative Problem Solving methods in treatment.
